Comment on Paul’s Favorite Films of 2011 by Paul http://www.opinionguys.com/2011/12/pauls-favorite-films-of-2011/#comment-25 Sat, 31 Dec 2011 05:00:17 +0000 http://www.opinionguys.com/?p=88#comment-25 Thanks! Indeed, I left it off of the list for the same reason that I left Ghostbusters off, the original release date of the film. Also the same reason that I’m going to be leaving Beauty and the Beast 3D off of next year’s list, as well as Finding Nemo 3D.

I also saw all three Lord of the Rings Extended Editions, Jurassic Park, Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom and a few others on the big screen. The only official releases that I saw were Ghostbusters, LOTR and The Lion King. The others were released as part of the Cult Classics series at my local cinema.

I’m hoping that the success of The Lion King 3D helps, because Disney Marketing failed with Winnie the Pooh. They placed it up against Harry Potter, and did little to really promote the film. Plus, someone told me that they were disappointed by how Winnie the Pooh performed (!) and weren’t planning on making another film like that (?) for a while. A September release, in hindsight, would have been much better.

The only film I would add to this list is The Lion King 3D, but I guess not everyone would consider it a 2011 film. This was the surprise hit of the year for Disney animation and I hope that this will ignite a fire for Disney to bring more hand drawn films to the screen.
